Rapper The Game has been hit with a multi-million dollar lawsuit after allegedly attacking an off-duty police officer during a basketball game. The incident occurred on 2 March as The Game whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, played with his team La Familia in the JBL National Pro-Am Basketball League at the Hollywood High School gym in Los Angeles. In court documents obtained by TMZ,
Onyebuchi Awaji claims that he suffered physical, emotional and financial damage after an altercation during the game led to him being sucker-punched by the hip hop star. He also alleges that although he did not instigate a fight with the How We Do hitmaker before he was assaulted, he got hit so hard it may have caused brain damage. Also a video published on TMZ shows the punching incident taking place. However, it does not show what transpired beforehand. Awaji is now seeking $12million dollars in damages for his pain and suffering, emotional distress and medical costs. The Game is yet to respond to the lawsuit, which was filed in April. However, according to Reuters, shortly after the initial incident, The Game claimed that Awaji was the instigator and that he attacked in self-defence.
