SAD: Ghanaian coach Jones Attuquayefio Passes on at 70


Coach Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, former trainer of two national football teams and a number of clubs, is dead, the local media reported this on tuesday.
Accra reported on its website that a family source confirmed the death of the coach on Tuesday. He was 70 and had been battling throat cancer for some time.

He is Popularly called Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, he has made names in many Ghanaian clubs before settling a coaching career.

Late Jones coached
  • Accra Great Olympics, 
  • Accra Hearts of Oak, (won the African Champions League in 2000)
  • Liberty Professionals.
  • Benin national team to the (2004 African Nations Cup) and 
  • Managed the Ghanaian national team, the Black Stars for some time
Late Jones was named African Coach of the Year in 2000 after he led Accra Hearts of Oak to the African Champions league victory having only one loss throughout the entire tournament.

Ghana has lost a legend in sports, and a lot of people he worked with would surely miss Him
